Consulting is not delivered in a vacuum but rather towards a specific context: that of a client or client organization. Each client situation is unique and a good understanding of your client must be combined with the associated inputs, requirements and the expertise and experience of the consultancy to produce an effective consulting solution.”
Specific steps must be taken to successfully market yourself as a consultant:
- Prepare your unique selling proposition (USP is what sets you apart from all of the other businesses in your sector out there in the marketplace.)
- Create your buyer persona (which is a semi-fictional representation of your ideal customer based on market research and real data about your existing customers. When creating it, consider including customer demographics, behavior patterns, motivations, and goals.)
- Become active in your local business community. Work with your local chamber of commerce, network with local businesses and get your name out there as an expert and as a reliable source of help.
- Use digital marketing to promote your business (leverage digital channels such as search engines, social media, email, and other websites to connect with current and prospective customers.)
